Maheri Recipe

To begin making Maheri, heat ghee or oil in a pressure cooker
ghee(1 tablespoon) - 2
Once the ghee is hot add hing, cumin seeds and allow the seeds to crackle
cumin seeds (jeera)(1 teaspoon)ghee(1 tablespoon) - 3
Once they starts crackling, add turmeric powder
turmeric powder (haldi)(1/2 teaspoon) - 4
Add 2 cups of water and salt and bring it to boil
salt - to taste - 5
Once the water starts boiling add buttermilk and bring it to boil again
buttermilk(4 cup) - 6
Now add the barnyard millet and mix well
barnyard millet - washed and soaked for 30 minutes(1 cup) - 7
Cover the pressure cooker and turn the heat to low

Pressure cook for 2 whistles
- 9
Let the pressure release naturally and then open the pressure cooker
- 10
Transfer the Maheri to a serving dish and serve
- 11
Serve Maheri as a healthy breakfast with pickle or Green Chutney for a comforting breakfast
