To begin making the Goan Gawar Bhaji Recipe, wash and chop cluster beans
gawar phali (kothavarangai / cluster beans)(250 grams) - 2
Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan

Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and asafoetida
mustard seeds(1 teaspoon)cumin seeds (jeera)(1/2 teaspoon)asafoetida (hing) - a pinch - 4
After 15 seconds, add turmeric powder, green chillies and onions
turmeric powder (haldi)(1/2 teaspoon)onion(1)green chilli(2) - 5
Cook till the onions become soft and translucent
onion(1) - 6
Now add tomatoes and saute till mushy
tomato(1) - 7
Add cluster beans, salt and mix
gawar phali (kothavarangai / cluster beans)(250 grams)salt - to taste - 8
Add some water, cover and cook till cluster beans are cooked
gawar phali (kothavarangai / cluster beans)(250 grams) - 9
Mix in between
- 10
Once the cluster beans is cooked and water has dried up, switch it off
gawar phali (kothavarangai / cluster beans)(250 grams) - 11
Garnish with grated coconut and chopped coriander
fresh coconut - grated(1 tablespoon)coriander (dhania) leaves - chopped - 12
Serve Goan Gawar Bhaji along with Keerai Sambar and Steamed Rice for a weekday meal
