    To begin making the Snake Gourd Kootu recipe, wash snake gourd, cut and remove the spongy centre part along with seeds

    Chop into small pieces

    Wash the dal and take it in pressure cooker, add the chopped snake gourd along with 3 cups of water

    Pressure cook for 2 whistles

    Meanwhile, take coconut, cumin, coriander seeds and green chilli in mixer

    Add little water and grind into smooth paste

    Keep aside

    Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds

    Once it splutters, add red chilli and saute for a minute

    Stir well and add little water if required

    Now, add the grounded coconut mixture and stir well until mixed

    Cook in low flame for 5 minutes until it starts boiling
